Airbus completes H125 fleet renewal for Nova Scotia wildfire and SAR missions
Nova Scotia has completed its H125 fleet renewal, strengthening wildfire, search and rescue, and remote-area operations across the province
Airbus Helicopters has delivered the fourth and final H125 helicopter to the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, completing a fleet renewal program for the Canadian province’s air service operations.
The four aircraft, ordered in 2024, replace a fleet introduced in 2016 and will support a range of special mission roles, including wildfire response, search and rescue (SAR), aerial surveillance, and emergency transport to remote areas across Nova Scotia.
“These helicopters are essential tools for responding quickly to emergencies, supporting wildfire response, search and rescue, and other critical work,” said Nova Scotia Minister of Natural Resources Tory Rushton.
The H125s have been customized for provincial operations with Canadian-designed supplemental type certificates and mission equipment, including high-visibility doors, cargo pods, long-line capability, cargo mirrors, an enlarged floor window, cable cutter, litter kit, and utility panel.
“Completing this fleet renewal gives Nova Scotia a modern, capable, and versatile fleet ready to support the critical work carried out by the Department of Natural Resources,” said Dwayne Charette, President of Airbus Helicopters in Canada. “The H125 has proven itself in demanding environments across Canada.”
The H125 is widely used for aerial work and public service missions, with more than 4,800 aircraft operating globally.
Helicopter Services Inc. (HSI) recently ordered three Airbus H125 helicopters for 2026 delivery.
