The aircraft manufacturer has maintained its position as the top provider of air medical transport in the North American market over the past year

Over the last 12 months, more than 35 new single and twin-engine Airbus helicopters were sold in the air medical market alone.

The company claims that now, more than half of all air medical transport helicopters in the North American skies were produced by Airbus and all the major helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) operators in the continent use Airbus helicopters.

Some HEMS operators include Atrium Health, that have introduced three new twin-engine H135 helicopters to their fleet. They will be used to enhance its MedCenter Air emergency and critical care patient transport services in the Carolinas.

Global Medical Response (GMR) added two H135s to their fleet, after their fleet order in 2021. This operator flies Airbus H125, H130, H135 and H145 family helicopters and continues to grow their fleet in partnership with the company.

A new customer of Airbus’ this year was the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation, who bought a single-engine H125 to donate to the Hawaii Fire Department. This helicopter will be the department’s first and will be used to enhance their emergency medical services and in search and rescue missions.

Romain Trapp, President of Airbus Helicopters and Head of the North American region, said: “Airbus is proud to support our partners in the air medical industry with the most comprehensive line of aircraft that ensure they can perform their mission of caring for patients each day.”

Airbus has also recently established its first H125 Training Device in Germany.
