Airmedic acquires second Learjet 45XR
The fixed-wing aircraft is due to enter service by the end of the year, pending the completion of all necessary upgrades
Quebec-based air ambulance operator Airmedic has announced its acquisition of a second Bombardier Learjet 45XR.
The aircraft, worth CA$7 million (US$5 million), follows the purchase of a previous 45XR last year for CA$8 million, which Airmedic said “established a strategic service point at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport”.
The new jet is due to enter service by the end of the year, and will effectively double the capacity of the company’s international repatriation operations, as well as offering greater operational resilience and flexibility.
“This investment marks a pivotal milestone for Airmedic,” said Louis-Philippe Loiselle Fortier, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Business Development at Airmedic. “For our patients and their families, it ensures faster, safer, and more compassionate repatriation. It is also a strong commitment to our mission: providing continuity of high-level care, both in Canada and abroad.”
PAL Aerospace recently signed a 10-year agreement to conduct fixed-wing air ambulance services in Newfoundland and Labrador as part of the Canadian province’s Integrated Emergency Health Services program.
