AirMed&Rescue December issue out now
The latest issue of AirMed&Rescue is out now, with features on the latest avionics upgrades, the products keeping crews safe during the pandemic, and the move from single to twin-engine helicopters by special missions operators
The most promising safety technologies which can prevent or reduce helicopter accidents are related to avionics, and in general, air medical operators should strive to implement avionics upgrades even when upgrades are recommended by, for example, an accident investigation report but not strictly mandated by the air operations regulations. AirMed&Rescue looks at which avionics are being chosen by operators.
Elsewhere in this issue, Dr Joetey Attariwala details the extensive adjustments made by air medical operators in response to the pandemic through the use of PPE, aircraft barriers, and ventilators. Plus, Leonardo, RACQ LifeFlight Rescue, and Airbus share insights on the recent proliferation of twin-engine helicopters, supporting the pilot transition, and the continued value of single-engine helicopters in special missions operations.
Also in this issue is an interview with Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard rescue swimmer Kim Germishuys, plus insights from Every Coast Helicopter Operations’ Veronica Marzonie and the IPWG’s Sid Bingley, Adam Berger, and Susan Rivers on their efforts to mitigate the impact of pilot incapacitation.
