June AMR out now

June’s edition of AirMed&Rescue considers sustainability across the industry, communication and asset management tactics during large-scale events, along with night vision goggle training standards.

We look at the bold steps that are being taken by the aerospace industry to achieve sustainability, in a bid to combat our dependance on carbon-based fuels and the effect greenhouse gas emissions have upon the planet.

Amy Gallagher examines current and future technology systems and asset management tactics and how the communication link is a vital lifeline. Not limited to just comms, workforce sustainability is also under scrutiny as Amy surveys the future of pilot recruitment, with the spotlight focusing upon education as a recruitment strategy.

How much significance does night vision goggle training frame their proper use by crews? Mario Pierobon explores how most HEMS pilots receive night vision goggle training in the military before transferring to civilian operations; are standards established and are NVIS training courses readily available in flight schools? And aeromedical pilot Mike Biasatti looks at how judgement before skill can avoid an undesirable outcome.

Dr Randall Greenberg, Chief Medical Officer for the Royal Flying Doctor Service talks to us about how lifesaving aeromedical and primary healthcare services are delivered to rural, regional, and remote communities across Australia. The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing Chairperson Rebecca Steinman and Chairperson Elect Allen C Wolfe share how the not-for-profit certification board is expanding its reach online and in the real-world post pandemic.

We also speak with Krista Haugen who is National Director of Patient Safety for US-based emergency and patient relocation services provider Global Medical Response about how her career path has informed her approach to patient care and safety.
