Alberta purchases five DHC-515 firefighting aircraft
The aircraft will be manufactured in Alberta and will support the Canadian province’s firefighting efforts
The government of Alberta has signed a contract with De Havilland Canada (DHC) for the supply of five Canadair DHC-515 waterbombers.
The aircraft will be built at DHC’s facilities in Alberta, and will strengthen the Canadian province’s ability to respond to wildfires.
The planes will join Alberta’s existing fleet of four CL-215s and 14 other airtankers.
The DHC-515 can carry 6,137L of water at a time, and has a normal cruise speed of 333km/h. It can refill in just 12 seconds.
