Argentina orders six SAR helicopters
The Argentinian government has purchased six Bell 407GXi helicopters for use in search and rescue (SAR) operations
The aircraft were purchased through a government-to-government contract between Argentina’s Ministry of Defense and the Canadian Commercial Corporation.
The aircraft will be operated by the Argentinian Air Force and Army to conduct SAR missions, and will be fitted out in a special ‘utility’ configuration appropriate to this field of operation.
The 407GXi features a Garmin G1000H NXi Flight Deck in its cockpit, as well as a new instrument flight rules (IFR) capability to enable all-weather operations.
John Ramos, Managing Director for Latin America at Bell explained: “The Bell 407GXi is a proven platform in high-altitude environments and will be pivotal to Argentina’s military search and rescue operations.”
The Canadian Commercial Corporation also recently signed a letter of intent with Argentina’s Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development to supply firefighting assets, equipment and services to the South American country.
