Argentina’s Río Negro to detect wildfires via satellite
The provincial government of Río Negro has signed a contract with OroraTech and GPTech to provide wildfire monitoring services to 20 million hectares of Patagonia
OroraTech and its local partner GPTech have signed a contract with Argentina’s Río Negro provincial government to provide satellite wildfire detection and monitoring services.
The deal will support the protection of around 20 million hectares of land in the Patagonia region – an area roughly half the size of Spain.
As part of the agreement, GPTech will construct and operate two wildfire control centers at Bariloche and El Bolsón. The centers will utilize OroraTech’s digital Wildfire Solution, which provides thermal intelligence and near-real-time alerts to support wildfire response.
The contract is part of a broader regional strategy to modernize environmental protection and emergency response.

Bridger Aerospace was awarded an exclusive-use contract last year by the US state of Montana to provide wildfire detection and mapping using a Daher Kodiak 100 aircraft.
