ASU’s E3 PANO receives FAA approval
ASU’s Lightweight E3 PANO NVG system has secured FAA approval for integration into qualified civil helicopter operations, including air medical, search and rescue, and public safety missions
Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Technical Standard Order C164c approval for its Lightweight E3 PANO night vision goggles (NVG) system, marking a regulatory milestone for its integration into civil aviation.
The system combines a panoramic field of view with a lightweight configuration, designed to improve peripheral awareness during low-light and nighttime helicopter operations while limiting additional weight for crews.
ASU said the E3 PANO was intended for specialized missions including public safety, air medical, utility aviation, law enforcement, and search and rescue (SAR), and is available to qualified operators and aviation programs. Its wider field of view is designed to support recognition of obstacles, terrain, aircraft, and other visual cues during critical phases of flight.
The FAA approval enables qualified operators to pursue integration of the system through applicable aircraft installation and operational approval processes.
