The drone systems will be used to provide drone-as-first-responder services across the US city

The City of Laredo, in the US state of Texas, has awarded a new $3.4 million contract to Axon Enterprise for the provision of drones to the Laredo Police Department.

The drone systems will be used by the Department to deliver drone-as-first-responder (DFR) operations across the city.

The contract covers a range of equipment, software, and training, including autonomous drones, docking stations, and drone detection and radar systems.

According to a report by the Laredo Morning Times local newspaper, the city council also rescinded a contract for the same goods and services previously awarded to Brinc Drones, citing delays to fulfillment.

In Ireland, Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service recently announced plans to launch a fleet of emergency drones.
