Banner Health relocates Med Evac helicopter
US non-profit health system Banner Health is relocating its Akron, Colorado-based emergency medical helicopter around 50km north to Sterling, from 1 October
The crew formerly based in Akron will be relocated, spending time at both Sterling Municipal Airport and Sterling Regional MedCenter.
Banner Health currently operates from three operation centers in Boulder, Greeley, and Akron, Colorado under the Med Evac brand. Med Evac, launched in 1982, established its third base at Akron Airport in 2013.
Ned Resch, CEO of Banner Health’s Sterling Regional MedCenter, said the move helps deliver efficient medical transportation.
“Our priority remains ensuring our patients receive high-quality care in a timely manner,” Resch added. “When a patient needs a higher level of care or specialty service emergently, our responsibility is to get them transported in a timely and safe manner.”
Fellow US-based air ambulance provider Air Methods announced the closure of bases in Hawaii and Missouri earlier this month, in response to financial challenges.
