BGF invests in high-flying med-tech firm Aiber
Scottish medical technology firm Aiber has received a GB£1.6 million investment from capital growth investor BGF, completing a £2 million fundraising round
Keith Barclay, an investor at BGF, explained that his company invested in Aiber because it saw its med-tech software product as having ‘a significant addressable market’.
Other investors in the round included private investors’ group Equity Gap and non-departmental government body Scottish Enterprise.
Aiber is a developer of first aid software and onboard kit designed to support treatment of medical emergencies in remote areas, in particular onboard aircraft and in maritime situations. Their solution allows for medical teams to efficiently communicate and share medical information with remote medical providers, including the ability to share diagnostic-grade cardiac information, as well as automatically generating reports after the resolution of the incident.
The new funding will be used to help Aiber, a trading name of MIME Technologies, to further roll out its product to customers in the aviation and maritime sectors. Anne Roberts, co-founder and Chief Executive of Aiber said: “As we continue to scale Aiber and its affordable one-touch technology, this investment will allow us to accelerate the roll-out of our potentially life-saving solution to more customers in our target sectors.”
Aiber says that several direct sales and channel partner trials for the product are already underway in Europe and the US.
In addition to providing direct investment to Aiber, BGF also introduced Tony Davis to the company through its Talent Network. Davis, an aviation expert and former CEO of commercial airlines bmibaby and Tiger Airways, will join Aiber as a Non-Executive Director.
