Black Hills Life Flight to open new base
The South Dakota-based Air Methods subsidiary will open the base south of Hot Springs to serve patients in the southeast of the state
The air ambulance service, based in the US state of South Dakota, will establish a new base at the Hot Springs Ambulance station, south of the city of Hot Springs.
The base will open this summer, and is situated approximately 75km south of the service’s existing operations in Rapid City, South Dakota. The base is intended to ensure rapid response times for residents of Hot Springs and the surrounding Fall River County.
The new Hot Springs base will be home to a Bell 407 helicopter, which will carry blood onboard.
Speaking to local news broadcaster Newscenter 1, Jacki Conlon, Director of Operations for Hot Springs Ambulance Service, said that her service was ‘very excited to join together with Black Hills Life Flight again in this partnership’. She added: “With the growth in the area, the addition of another helicopter will be an invaluable resource for not only the residents in Hot Springs, but for the entire Black Hills.”
Fellow Air Methods subsidiary LifeNet also opened a new base in Oneida County, New York, earlier this month.
