Boeing awarded US Air Force contract for eight more MH-139A helicopters
This batch of helicopters brings the total number of Grey Wolfs ordered by USAF to 34 units
Boeing has been awarded a $173 million contract by the US Air Force (USAF) to supply eight more MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters, alongside training and support services.
The multi-mission helicopters, which are designed for patrol, search and rescue, and troop and cargo transport, have been fitted with a range of custom military equipment.
The rotorcraft type is based on the Leonardo AW139 helicopter type.
This latest order will raise the total number of aircraft of this type under contract to USAF to 34, of which 18 have been delivered.
Boeing stated that USAF recently completed initial operational test and evaluation flights for the MH-139A program, as it continues to move towards initial operational capability.
“The MH-139A offers increased speed, range, and payload capacity critical to supporting US national security missions,” said Azeem Khan, MH-139 Program Director at Boeing. “We look forward to delivering these advanced aircraft to bases across the country.”
