BRINC delivers drones to US agencies
The company has announced its first deliveries of its Lemur 2 drone to ‘customers in US public safety agencies’
BRINC stated that the drones going to the agencies will be used to ‘de-escalate dangerous situations, assist in search and rescue missions, and improve first responder safety’.
The Lemur 2, announced in March 2023, is the successor to BRINC’s first drone, the Lemur. It offers a number of upgrades compared with its predecessor, including:
- A LiDAR and tracking camera array
- Night vision and forward-looking infrared (FLIR) sensors
- Smart battery management
- A glass breaker for window breaching
- A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) compliant remote ID module.
The drone also offers improved obstacle awareness, two-way audio communications, USB-C charging, and improved self-righting.
The Lemur 2 is capable of being flown in confined environments, and can bounce off walls in the event of a collision. Additionally, the drone’s LiDAR array is capable of generating real-time floor plans of the local environment.
The UK’s Northumbria Police recently launched its own drone program.
