Canada invests C$10 million in Laflamme Aero
The investment was announced on 11 July by François-Philippe Champagne, the country’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry
The Canadian government has invested C$10 million into the development of Laflamme Aero’s LX300 remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS). The funds will be delivered through the government’s Strategic Innovation Fund.
The funds will be used to undertake ‘mission system integration, testing, and demonstration of the LX300 helicopter’. The contribution is also expected to create over 100 jobs at Laflamme’s facility in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
It follows a similar announcement by Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions on 7 July that it would contribute a further $2.5 million to the production of the LX300.
The LX300 is intended for a wide array of uses, including beyond line-of-sight reconnaissance, search and rescue (SAR), border surveillance, and the delivery of first aid.
Airbus and the French government tested their own VSR700 uncrewed helicopter in late May.
