Capital Air Ambulance gains jet
Capital Air Ambulance has announced the addition of a Learjet 45 to its fleet of dedicated air ambulance aircraft.
In the UK, fixed-wing provider Capital Air Ambulance has announced the addition of a Learjet 45 to its fleet of dedicated air ambulance aircraft. With the closure of Air Medical Ltd, the move means that Capital Air Ambulance is now the only EURAMI-accredited air ambulance provider in the UK flying jet aircraft.
Lisa Humphries, accountable manager and sales director, commented: “The jet will be invaluable for critical missions operating on a worldwide air operator certificate. All our aircraft offer dual Lifeport stretcher systems and can be fully equipped for ICU missions.”
The company stated that the new plane, tail number G-XJET, will be operated with two flight crew at all times. It will be able to carry two patients and up to two travelling companions, along with the medical staff. The jet features a specially designed 36-inch (91-cm) access door.
Along with the new Learjet 45, Capital Air Ambulance has purchased a King Air 200, adding to the existing three examples of the model in the company’s fleet.
