Centum and Avincis expand strategic partnership
As part of this contract, Avincis will enhance its fleet of Leonardo AW139s with new technologies including Lifeseeker, to upgrade SASEMAR’s SAR capabilities
Centum and Avincis have announced a strategic partnership in the framework of the newly awarded contract to Avincis as the helicopter service provider for the Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agency (SASEMAR).
As part of this contract, Avincis will enhance its fleet of Leonardo AW139 helicopters with new technologies, including Lifeseeker. This solution allows the detection and location of individuals through their mobile phones, even in areas without cellular coverage.
Avincis will also oversee the development of the supplemental type certificate (STC) for the installation of Lifeseeker.
Simon Tye, Chief Commercial Officer of Avincis Group, commented: “Integrating Lifeseeker into our fleet is a natural step for us as Europe’s leading provider of emergency air services. Centum’s technology enhances our search and rescue capabilities, supporting our mission to save lives and protect communities.”
Héctor Estévez, CEO of Centum, added: “We are proud to continue developing solutions alongside Avincis, a company with an outstanding track record in emergency operations. The integration of Lifeseeker into the AW139 fleet represents a decisive step forward in enhancing search capabilities on land and at sea, contributing directly to our shared mission of saving lives.”
Centum recently launched new airborne cellular system Cellair.
