Coptersafety’s full flight simulators qualified to Level D by FAA

Coptersafety’s H-145 D-2, CAE AW139 and TRU AW139 full flight simulators have been qualified to Level D by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Simulator Program (NSP).

This accreditation is given to full flight simulators that meet the FAA’s highest standards.

It is the first H-145 D-2 simulator qualified by the FAA and for night vision goggle (NVG) training tasks outside of the United States.

Matthew Presnal, Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor responsible for Coptersafety’s FAA programs, said: “We at Coptersafety are excited to continue our expansion of our training capabilities, and with the addition of FAA Level D qualified full flight simulators, customers can focus on pilot training in a simulator with the highest level of qualification and capabilities.”

Coptersafety’s H145 Level D full flight simulator is equipped with Helionix Step 2 avionics. The CAE AW139 Level D full flight simulator has Phase 5 avionics. The TRU AW139 Level D full flight simulator features Phase 7 avionics.

The simulators offer training features such as cockpit vibration, smoke generation, 3D clouds, night-time scene, and night vision visual scenes. Scenarios can be created with known geographical locations and landing sites.

Pilots and crews can book to train in the H145 D-2, alongside testing and checking, as well as NVG-compatible training tasks.

The FAA recently approved the Robinson Helicopter Company’s R66 NVG configuration.
