DDC launches Toronto hospital drone route
Drone Delivery Canada (DDC) announced the launch of its DroneCare project, in partnership with Halton Healthcare
The healthcare drone logistics program is now “commercially operational”, according to a statement by the Canadian drone operator. The program is the culmination of a partnership first announced in October 2023 between the two organizations.
The project will see DDC’s drones used to establish a delivery route of just over 13km in length between two of Halton Healthcare’s facilities: the Milton District Hospital and the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital – both located southwest of Toronto, Ontario.
The route will be used to transfer laboratory blood, urine, and tissue samples, as well as various critical medical supplies, between the two hospitals.
Flights will be remotely piloted by DDC from its Operations Control Centre in Vaughan, Ontario.
