De Havilland Canada and Avincis announce joint initiatives
Avincis will share its supplemental type certificates with the manufacturer, and the two companies will collaborate on future aircraft modifications
De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC) and Avincis have announced a number of joint initiatives in support of the CL-215, CL-215T and CL-415 aircraft.
As part of the agreement, Avincis – a major operator of DHC aircraft in the aerial firefighting sector – has agreed to transfer ownership of its Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS-B) and flight management system (FMS) supplemental type certificates (STCs) for these aircraft types to DHC.
The STCs will be included in DHC’s spare parts catalogue, providing access to critical system solutions for the CL-type aircraft and their operators.
Additionally, Avincis will lead the development of future modifications to CL aircraft, in collaboration with DHC.
Avincis stated that the collaboration will leverage its “significant capability and experience in design and completion, as well as its strong maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) footprint across Europe”.
“We are pleased to announce these important joint initiatives with Avincis,” said Brian Chafe, CEO of DHC. “We welcome the opportunity to better serve our customers with Avincis, one of the largest operators of our aerial firefighting aircraft. This agreement also recognizes the power of collaboration when new modifications are being considered.”
John Boag, Group CEO of Avincis added: “We are very proud to have operated and maintained the biggest fleet of CL-415s in the world for more than 20 years. As a result of this experience, we have built a robust maintenance, design and engineering capability and infrastructure, that will serve worldwide CL operators well as part of this new agreement.”
Avincis also recently acquired offshore operator KN Helicopters.
