De Havilland names Universal Avionics as lead supplier
The company also announced its takeover of Mid-Canada Mod Center and Avionics Design Services to support this new partnership
De Havilland Canada has named Universal Avionics as its new lead supplier of integrated flight decks for the CL-215T and CL-415 firefighting aircraft.
The aircraft manufacturer stated that the new flight decks will ‘increase the functionality and effectiveness’ of the firefighting planes, as well as offering ‘enhanced safety and improved situational awareness’.
Alongside this, De Havilland Canada also announced the acquisition of two avionics integration firms – the Mid-Canada Mod Center (MC2), and Avionics Design Services (ADS). Both companies have worked on Universal Avionics installations, upgrades, and modifications ‘for decades’, and will support the new lead supplier agreement.
De Havilland will take over the two firms’ facilities at Toronto Pearson and Region of Waterloo airports, alongside other engineering team members in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta.
The leadership teams at both MC2 and ADS will remain in place as the firms become fully integrated De Havilland subsidiaries.
De Havilland also launched a new version of its DHC-6 Twin Otter utility aircraft earlier this year.
