DJI announces global launch of cargo drone
Drone manufacturer DJI has announced the global launch of its FlyCart 30 delivery drone
The FlyCart 30 (FC30) previously had a localized launch in China in August 2023, where it hit the market with an initial price of approximately US$17,000.
DJI stated that the drone can offer efficient, flexible delivery capabilities for mission types such as mountain transportation, offshore transportation, or emergency rescue transportation.
The FC30 can carry a payload of 30kg
The aircraft is capable of achieving flight speeds of 20m/s (72km/h). It can carry a payload of up to 30kg over a range of 16km in dual-battery configuration, or 40kg over a distance of 8km in emergency single-battery configuration.
The drone system also has a Dual Operator mode which allows control to be transferred between two pilots in different locations.
The FC30 is capable of flying in temperatures of -20°C to 45°C – and is equipped with self-heating batteries for this purpose – and in winds of up to 12m/s (43km/h).
The drone can carry a full payload to an altitude of up to 3,000m above sea level, or, while unladen, it is optimized to reach heights of up to 6,000m.
The FC30 also has a number of built-in safety features, including an ADS-B signal receiver and an integrated parachute that can land the aircraft safely in emergencies.
Payloads can be delivered either using the FC30’s in-built 70l storage case, or using a winch crane with a 20m cable.
