Drone Solutions launches logistics network in Zimbabwe
The company developed the medical drone logistics network in collaboration with Harare’s Drone University operator training school
Zimbabwe-based firm Drone Solutions has announced the launch of a drone delivery initiative designed to distribute medical equipment to remote areas, bypassing seasonal flooding and inaccessible roads.
The company stated that its drones – the company employs Kite Aero aircraft – were now in the process of distributing vaccines, blood products, and pathology samples, as well as various medicines, across parts of Zimbabwe, with an average delivery time of around 30 minutes.
The initiative is being supported by Drone University, a Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ)-licensed drone operator training school based in Harare.
In a statement issued on LinkedIn, Drone Solutions said that it planned to ultimately expand its operations to neighboring countries such as Malawi, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the aim of “integrating these markets under a single operational standard”.
In the UK, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust recently partnered with Open Skies Network to introduce a medical drone delivery service across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
