EHang awarded CAAC production certificate
The certification will allow the aerospace firm to begin mass production of its EH216-S electric aircraft
Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) manufacturer EHang has been awarded a production certificate for its autonomous EH216-S aircraft.
The certificate, awarded by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), will allow the company to begin mass production of the eVTOL type.
EHang stated that the production certificate (PC) follows a “comprehensive document review and on-site verification and validation”, conducted by a review team from CAAC’s Central-South Regional Administration.
“The issuance of the production certificate is pivotal for the EH216-S, as it opens the door to mass production, and is a crucial step for our advancement towards commercial operations,” said Huazhi Hu, Founder, Chairman and CEO of EHang. “With the PC as the starting point, we are poised to gradually expand production and delivery to meet escalating market demands.”
EHang has been experimenting with the use of its eVTOLs in a range of emergency response roles, including aerial firefighting and disaster response.
Fellow eVTOL developer AutoFlight unveiled its own prototype eVTOL for aerial firefighting in November 2023.
