Everdrone raises $3.88m and enters commercial phase
The funds will be used to further develop the company’s drone platform, which is currently used for healthcare response in Sweden’s Västra Götaland region
Swedish drone manufacturer Everdrone has announced plans for expansion after completing a 36 million kronor (US$3.88 million) funding round.
The funding round was led by investment firm Sciety, alongside its investor network Sciety Venture Partners.
Everdrone will use the funds to “validate methodology and system integration for drone support in emergency healthcare, as well as to further develop its technology platform for additional service offerings”.
The company currently operates a regular drone service, integrated into the emergency response chain of Sweden’s Västra Götaland region, delivering emergency equipment in response to cardiac arrests.
It has also been procured to develop similar drone services by the regional government of Stockholm, as well as the Normandy region of France.
“This funding gives us stronger conditions to continue building the company and expanding our services into more markets across Europe”, said Mats Sällström, CEO of Everdrone. “Our autonomous drones are integrated into the emergency response chain and dispatched in parallel with ambulances. We are seeing growing interest in these types of solutions within emergency healthcare and other rescue services.”
ANA Holdings recently completed a series of long-distance medical logistics drone trials in Japan’s Okinawa Prefecture.
