FAA approves GI 275 for Airbus AS350
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded Supplemental Type Certification (STC) to Garmin for the installation of its GI 275 electronic flight instrument on the Airbus AS350
The instrument is now available through authorized Garmin dealers for retrofit on the AS350 BA, B2, B3 and B3E variants.
The GI 275 is a ‘direct replacement’ for a range of legacy primary flight instruments, such as the primary attitude indicator, course deviation indicator, horizontal situation indicator, or multi-function display. It is designed to fit within the common 3.125 inch flight instrument area, reducing installation times and preserving the existing instrument panel.
The instrument has a high-resolution touchscreen display with a wide viewing angle, as well as a dual concentric knob which can be used to access key functions. It also offers a 3D topographic view of terrain, traffic, obstacles, power lines and airport signposts, as well as the display of outside air temperature, groundspeed, true airspeed and wind information on the attitude indicator.
The GI 275 also offers wireless functionality for the sharing of GPS position and backup attitude information to the Garmin Pilot mobile app.
The FAA also granted approval for Robinson Helicopters’ night vision goggle-compatible configuration of the R66 Police helicopter in October 2022.
