FAI Aviation Services DMCC signs first UAE hospital partnership
A new partnership between an international air ambulance provider and a leading Dubai hospital aims to strengthen the UAE’s emergency medical transport and critical care capabilities
FAI Aviation Services DMCC has signed a cooperation agreement with Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital (MRSH), Al Qusais, marking the air ambulance operator’s first collaboration of its kind in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The deal pairs FAI’s international air medical expertise with the local critical care capabilities of the premium facility, part of Aster DM Healthcare Group.
The agreement was signed in Dubai by Barbara Baumgartner, Managing Director of FAI Aviation Services DMCC, and Dr Shanila Laiju, Group Chief Executive Officer of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres.
Under the partnership, MRSH will supply intensive care unit (ICU) flight doctors and specialist medical teams for FAI missions. The two organizations will also run joint training and clinical readiness programs. The companies expect the collaboration to streamline logistics, reduce response times, and improve coordination for urgent and critical transfers, supporting the UAE’s ambition to strengthen its air ambulance and medical tourism offering.
Baumgartner said: “We are pleased to sign this first-of-a-kind collaboration with MRSH, which strengthens FAI’s link between air and ground medicine in the UAE. By partnering with Medcare Royal Speciality Hospital, FAI is utilizing local medical talent who understands cultural and patient needs.”
Dr Laiju said: “We are proud to partner with FAI Air Ambulance to enhance our emergency response capabilities and ensure patients receive timely, lifesaving care. This collaboration strengthens our commitment to delivering the highest standard of medical service wherever and whenever our patients need it most.”
MRSH serves as Medcare’s flagship multispecialty hospital and provides 24/7 emergency and trauma services, supported by advanced diagnostics and surgical capabilities. The hospital also offers follow-up care for international patients.
The partners have already worked together on multiple cases. In one recent mission, FAI transported a severely injured American expat from Kyrgyzstan to Dubai on short notice after doctors advised she could not tolerate a long-haul flight to the USA. She later made a full recovery at MRSH.
