Falck elects new chairman of board of directors
Niels Smedegaard was elected by Falck as the new, independent Chairman of its board of directors
The new chairman of the board, Niels Smedegaard, has been a member of Falck's board of directors since 2016 and is the former CEO of the Danish company DFDS. He looks forward to taking up the position as chairman and continue the cooperation with Falck's board and management – a work that will focus on realizing Falck's strategy towards 2025.
Smedegaard commented: "I am very pleased with the confidence the board shows me. Last year, we announced an ambitious strategy on how to develop Falck and increase the business towards 2025. We are well on our way to implementing the strategy, and with Falck's strengthened position, the owners and the board believe that the time is right to uncover Falck's full potential and consider a possible future IPO.”
Smedegaard replaces Peter Schütze Chairman
He replaces Peter Schütze as Chairman, however Schütze will continue as a member of Falck´s board of directors. Schütze has been Chairman of Falck Group since 2015 and is also Vice-Chairman of the board of The Lundbeck Foundation, Falck's majority owner.
"Together with the management team we have successfully strengthened and professionalised Falck and secured a strong financial foundation,” said Schütze. “Today, Falck is well positioned for growth and further development. I would like to thank the board of directors, CEO Jakob Riis, and the rest of the top management for very good cooperation during a challenging period.”
