Gama Aviation announces Capital Air Ambulance acquisition
The takeover will see Capital Air Ambulance’s medical and flight teams merged into Gama Aviation’s Special Mission strategic business unit
Gama Aviation has announced its acquisition of Capital Air Ambulance, as part of its plans to expand its presence in the UK fixed-wing air ambulance market.
The deal, signed yesterday, will see the transition of the Capital Air Ambulance team to Gama Aviation, as part of the company’s Special Mission strategic business unit.
The move is expected to improve the resilience of Gama Aviation’s existing clinical team, as well as its flight operations and pilot cadre.
Capital Air Ambulance was acquired from previous parent firm Centreline, which in turn bought the company in 2021.
“Strategically the acquisition allows us to achieve two complementary activities: one, grow our share of the repatriation market, and two, enhance the productivity of our air ambulance fleet,” said Mark Smith, Managing Director, Special Mission, at Gama Aviation. “With this deal, we will achieve both in a shorter timescale and with less execution risk than if we had organically grown our existing share of the repatriation market.”
Gama Aviation was previously awarded a flight services contract for Scotland’s ScotSTAR ambulance service.
