Fully equipped with firefighting and mountain rescue equipment, the aircraft is also provided with two engines, increasing the safety of the flight. Similar helicopters are successfully operated by the police and emergency services of Germany, Switzerland, France, Canada, and other countries.
Pilots and flight technicians of the Special Purpose Aviation Division of the Border Police are currently undergoing training at the Airbus Helicopters academy in Germany. The training course will be completed on 15 March, followed by the transportation of the aircraft to Georgia.
On 19 December 2022, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs signed an agreement with Airbus Helicopters regarding the purchase of three H145 helicopters. The next two aircraft are expected to be delivered to Georgia by June 2024.
