Global Aerospace Design expands ADS-B Out solutions

These recent certifications also include FreeFlight’s 1203C Global Navigation Satellite System as the primary position source.

Adding three aircraft types

Initially, this STC covered the installation of ADS-B Out utilizing ACSS XS-950 Mode S Transponders with Rockwell Collins GLU-920/-925 Multi-Mode Receivers as the position source. However, the most recent amendment adds three aircraft types, the Boeing 737-400, Boeing 737-500, and Airbus A310-300, utilizing the FreeFlight 1203C.

FreeFlight’s 1203C module is specifically designed to provide highly accurate global positioning of an aircraft for airline transport, military, and business aviation platforms. The 1203C is certified to TSO-C145c and meets position source requirements for Required Navigation Performance and other L-NAV operations. Its system allows operators to integrate NextGen avionics and leverage advanced safety and greater fuel efficiencies within their aircraft fleet.

Expanding ADS-B solutions to support customers

All aircraft flying in domestic US airspace, as of 31 December 2019, must be equipped with ADS-B Out. However, the amended European mandate grants extensions until 7 June 2023, and exemptions in some cases.

Recently, FreeFlight Systems received Approved Model List Supplemental Type Certificate approval covering over 400 FAA Part 23 aircraft airframes for OEMs.
