GNAAS receives contract extension on Isle of Man
Manx Care, a healthcare provider on the Isle of Man, has granted a one-year extension to its contract with the UK’s Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS)
The extension follows a successful initial trial, launched in March 2022, to support the development of a helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) on the island.
Since the start of the partnership, GNAAS has been called out to the island a total of 22 times, and conducted patient transfers 12 times.
Speaking to local news outlet Isle of Man Today, David Stockton, Chief Executive of Great North Air Ambulance said: “We are currently working with Manx Care to look at further opportunities to work together and provide additional support to people living on the island … and very much look forward to developing our relationship further across the next 12 months.”
GNAAS was one of 10 UK air ambulance services announced to be trialling the use of whole blood onboard its aircraft in December 2022.
