HeliService USA expands HEMS and SAR business
The company will serve the growing needs of the offshore wind industry in the northeastern USA
HeliService USA has announced the launch of its commercial helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) business in the northeastern USA, following the receipt of certification.
The company said it hoped to ensure that workers employed in the region’s offshore energy industry would be able to receive advanced life support (ALS) and transport to hospital as quickly as possible.
“The need for comprehensive offshore emergency medical response has become increasingly clear,” HeliService USA stated. “There have been numerous severe incidents reported over the past two years, including workplace injuries and sudden health emergencies such as strokes that needed a fast and comprehensive response.”
The launch coincided with the expansion of HeliService USA’s search and rescue (SAR) capabilities in the region from 12 hours a day to 24 hours.
Babcock renewed its contract with Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance for another decade earlier this month.
