Kerry Reals won in the MRO category with the article Lighter, smarter HUMS take flight in the air medical sector. It shines a spotlight on the way that health and usage monitoring systems (HUMS) have developed to a level where civil operators, and air medical services especially, have the space and capacity to carry the systems. Reals notes that as well as saving time and money improving efficiency of maintenance schedules, HUMS also allow for notification of trends towards failure of parts, making the flights safer.

Accepting the award on Reals’ behalf was Jon Adams, Editor of AirMed&Rescue.
