iAERO launches ATLAS powered stretcher loader for air ambulance operators

The ATLAS powered stretcher loader boosts crew safety and efficiency while enabling rapid patient transfers across air ambulance and special missions operations

iAERO has unveiled its new Aircraft Transfer Lift and Assistance System (ATLAS), a powered stretcher loader designed to modernize one of the most physically demanding tasks in air medical transport: safely and efficiently loading patients.

“ATLAS began with people, not technology,” said Ryan Hader, President of iAERO. “We built it to reduce the load on crews and make patient loading safer, faster, and more consistent in the environments where every second matters.”

The system delivers controlled, powered lifting and movement, replacing heavy manual handling with repeatable motion that reduces crew strain, fatigue, and injury risk. It also supports smoother patient transfers and faster turnaround times during high-tempo operations.

Developed from real-world operational needs, ATLAS adapts to a wide variety of aircraft, from small-cabin Pilatus PC-12 and Beechcraft King Air to large, long-range platforms, as well as rotary-wing aircraft such as the Leonardo AW139. Its versatility allows safe patient loading in tight cabin access, stairway operations, and high door-sill scenarios where manual handling can be impractical.

Fully battery-powered and independent of aircraft or ground power, ATLAS uses off-the-shelf battery packs for easy replacement and reliable performance in remote locations.

Beyond air medical transport, ATLAS’ controlled lifting capability offers practical applications for public safety, disaster response, and other special missions requiring rapid, safe patient or casualty movement in confined or challenging environments.

Vertical Aerospace recently secured a Singapore grant for eVTOL air ambulance trials.
