ICATT signs agreement with The ePlane Company
The non-binding agreement could potentially see ICATT purchase up to 788 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft
Indian air ambulance service provider ICATT has signed an agreement with The ePlane Company for the supply of eVTOLs.
The non-binding agreement outlines the potential supply of up to 788 eVTOLs to ICATT by the Chennai-based aerospace firm, and has a potential value of up to US$1 billion.
The ePlane Company is hoping to begin aircraft production in the latter half of next year, at an initial rate of 100 units per year, according to a report by Reuters.
The ePlane eVTOLs would have an initial range of around 110km – however, the company hopes to eventually achieve a range of up to 200km in later versions of the aircraft.
The company will initially produce a set of three prototype air ambulance eVTOLs capable of accommodating a pilot, paramedic, and a patient on a stretcher.
The New Zealand Air Ambulance Service recently placed an order for two eVTOLs with BETA Technologies.
