Indonesia orders four H145s for SAR ops
The rotorcraft will be used by the Indonesian Air Force for search and rescue (SAR) and training operations
Indonesia has placed an order with Airbus for four H145 helicopters for use by the country’s Air Force. The purchase was announced at the Bali International Air Show on 18 September.
The five-bladed H145s will be used by the Indonesian Air Force for training and SAR missions, and will be delivered to them by Airbus in partnership with local aerospace firm PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI).
Airbus will deliver the H145s to PTDI, who will then oversee the reassembly and completion of the aircraft – including the installation of all mission equipment and other customization work – at its facility in Bandung.
“We are fully confident that the highly versatile H145 will make a positive impact in enhancing its military pilot training and at the same time be a critical enabler for its SAR operations,” said Vincent Dubrule, Head of Asia-Pacific, Airbus Helicopters. “With a trusted partner in PTDI, we look forward to working together in support of Indonesia’s fleet.”
The Indonesian government previously ordered a fleet of 24 Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopters from Lockheed Martin last year.
