Injured hiker rescued from Boulder River Trail
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Helicopter and Search and Rescue (SCSAR) Teams rescued an injured backcountry hiker on 27 May from the Boulder River trail, near Oso in Washington, US. The rescue team had been notified earlier that morning that a female hiker was injured on 26 May and was waiting with companions about three miles up the trail in heavy timber and steep terrain. SCSAR and the Oso and Darrington Fire Department crews responded on the ground to the location and waited with the injured woman.At around 08:00 hrs, the rescue helicopter SnoHawk 10 airlifted the victim and an attendant, using a ‘short-haul’ system, from the trail to a field near Highway 530. The victim was then loaded into the Huey UH-1H helicopter and transported to Providence Hospital in Everett.
