Shapeways, a 3D printing firm, has shown off some of the winner entries to its #SAR3DP contest that it held in conjunction with drone manufacturer DJI. The competition challenged designers to create search and rescue add-ons for the DJI Phantom 4 drone.

Some of the innovative designs on display included a clip-on whistle that makes a loud whirring noise using the drone’s rotor blades and an exoskeleton that gives space for clip-on attachments. As all entries are 3D printed, it could make it cheaper for services to run a search and rescue drone.
