LCI delivers AW139s to Babcock Australasia
Aviation leasing firm LCI has delivered two new Leonardo AW139 helicopters to Babcock’s Australian division
The aircraft will be based on Horn Island, and used to support Babcock’s helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) operations in the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula of Queensland, Australia.
The AW139s are currently being configured ahead of beginning operations, and will be equipped with a range of equipment, including a power-loading stretcher system, a winch, and an electro-optical and infrared camera.
Babcock was awarded a new 12-year contract by the Queensland government to provide HEMS and search and rescue (SAR) to the Torres Strait in May 2023.
“We are delighted to be providing two new AW139 helicopters, equipped with latest equipment for EMS and other mission-critical services, to our long-standing partner Babcock,” said Nigel Leishman, Chief Commercial Officer at LCI. “These state-of-the-art helicopters will improve the speed, range and capability of its operations in Queensland.”
