Leonardo opens maintenance hub in southern Italy
The facility will provide maintenance support to aircraft operated by the Italian government and military
Leonardo has opened its first maintenance base for public service helicopters in southern Italy, at its site in Brindisi.
The facility will provide “first-level assistance” to approximately 150 helicopters belonging to the Italian armed forces and other state bodies.
It encompasses an area of around 4,000m2, featuring seven areas dedicated to maintenance, including one for heavy repairs.
“Maintenance is a very important part of product management,” said Gian Piero Cutillo, Managing Director of Leonardo’s Helicopter Division. “Alongside routine maintenance, predictive maintenance is becoming increasingly important, i.e. being able to predict what to do and when to do it.”
Leonardo is a major supplier of aircraft to the Italian government, including to the National Fire Corps (Vigili del Fuoco), and military police (Carabinieri).
