Leonardo supports management of Covid-19 crisis in Italy
Italian aviation company Leonardo is supporting national institutions’ management of the Covid-19 pandemic by providing resources
Leonardo is responding to this unprecedented health emergency in Italy by launching a series of solidarity initiatives in support of the efforts made by people who are working to guarantee the containment of Covid-19.
Through the use of two C-27J transport aircraft and one ATR 72, Leonardo and its crewmembers are carrying out a series of shuttle flights between Italian airports and other destinations as required during the emergency, including transport of medical materials such as ventilators and masks.
Additionally, the Helicopters Division has made its pilots and three helicopters available, providing technical support to the Armed Forces’ helicopter fleet.
Finally, at the Leonardo-Grottaglie site, the Aerostructures Division has launched the first production batch of 3D-printed valves. These are part of an initiative of the company Isinnova, which developed a project that turns a model of snorkeling mask into respirators.
