Life Flight Network inaugurates new base
US air ambulance service Life Flight Network celebrated the grand opening of their new base at Bowerman Airport, in the US State of Washington
The base began operations last month – however, the event was an opportunity to showcase the facility to the public and local officials.
Located in the city of Hoquiam, the base will offer services to the Olympic Peninsula region and the surrounding, largely rural communities in the west of the state. It will be staffed 24/7 by a pilot, paramedic and mechanic, with additional staffing to be provided based on need.
The new base is expected to reduce medical transport times to approximately 15 minutes between Grays Harbor and the city of Olympia – compared with around an hour via ground ambulance.
As well as offering helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) from the base, Life Flight Network has confirmed that the base has the potential to host fixed-wing services if needed.
Life Flight Network acquired four additional Bell 407GXi helicopters earlier this year.
