Loft Dynamics unveils Multi-Pilot H145 VR Simulator

Loft Dynamics has unveiled a new multi-pilot virtual reality (VR) simulator for the Airbus H145 at this year’s Farnborough International Airshow.

The simulator, now commercially available to operators and training organizations worldwide, allows pilots and crew to train together in a shared VR environment, covering scenarios that require normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures.

Developed in collaboration with Airbus Helicopters, the simulator uses flight dynamics, system data, and software provided directly by Airbus, and was tested by Airbus pilots.

One of the simulator’s launch operators is special missions provider Babcock France, which signed a letter of intent at the airshow for the deployment of an H145 VR simulator at one its facilities. The company plans to use the simulator across its training program, with a focus on mission rehearsal, and specialized helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) ‎and search and rescue (SAR) operations. Babcock also plans to make its simulator capacity available to operators across France and neighboring countries.

It shows that immersive VR is moving beyond an emerging training option and becoming infrastructure that major operators can build into their long-term H145 training strategies.”

Loft Dynamics previously unveiled its first virtual reality Garmin glass cockpit for its H125 simulator.
