London to get new air ambulances
London’s Air Ambulance Charity will launch two new helicopters in October following the success of its Up Against Time appeal
London’s Air Ambulance Charity has announced the success of its £15-million Up Against Time appeal.
The appeal – launched in October 2022 – was intended to support the replacement of the charity’s two MD 902 Explorer helicopters.
The appeal surpassed the £15-million threshold after receiving a £4-million donation from lottery organizer Omaze.
London’s Air Ambulance stated that following the success of the appeal, it expects to bring its new helicopters into service this October.
The new rotorcraft will allow the service to continue saving lives across the UK capital for years to come – in 2023, it attended to more than 2,000 patients.
“It was a huge challenge, but we have been blown away by how people have shared our belief in our lifesaving cause,” said Jonathan Jenkins, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance Charity.
