Metro Aviation delivers Baltimore police helicopter
Baltimore Police Department (BPD) has acquired the second of a batch of three Airbus H125s due for delivery from the company
The new fleet was purchased under a contract signed in late 2021, is intended to replace an old set of EC120s currently being phased out of use by BPD’s Aviation Unit.
The aircraft is fitted with a WESCAM MX-10 imaging system, a Vislink downlink system, Macro-Blue tactical displays, and a Spectrolab Nightsun searchlight.
The new aircraft has been fitted with an aft tactical flight officer (TFO) station to complement the forward TFO station in the cockpit. The aft TFO station will allow officers in the rear of the aircraft to monitor mapping systems, as well as control downlink and LoJack car systems.
Based in the US state of Maryland, BPD is currently running a 30-day community feedback session on the use of drone technology for crime scene management and tactical situations.
