Multicom purchases H125 simulator
Loft Dynamics (formerly VRM Switzerland) has announced the sale of a virtual reality (VR) training device for the Airbus H125 to Italian firm Multicom
The simulator will be used by Multicom subsidiary Helixcom to establish a ‘training and competence center for helicopter pilots’ at its home base near Caltanissetta, in the southern Italian region of Sicily.
The device is Loft Dynamics’ first order from Italy, and will offer pilots in the country access to simulator training, without the need to travel to simulator centers elsewhere.
The center will be used to provide pilots with realistic training experiences, and will ‘complement existing authorized training organizations (ATOs), aircraft operators, and training centers’ in the country, according to Gianluca Mannino Gueli, Multicom’s owner.
Helixcom itself operates a fleet of five H125s from its Caltanissetta base.
“Simulators allow future pilots to practice various training scenarios and operational procedures tailored to their specific field of activity, which has a positive impact on flight safety,” Gueli added.
He continued: “Safety is fundamental to any transport system, and it is our top priority. Helicopters are widely used in Europe, particularly in services such as helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS), surveillance, police operations, aerial work, and agriculture. Statistics show that progress in reducing helicopter fatalities in the European Union (EU) has remained virtually unchanged in recent years. This is where simulators come in — they have proven to enable pilots to gain experience efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.”
Canadian helicopter operator Blackcomb Helicopters purchased a new VR flight simulator for the H125 from Loft Dynamics in late June.
