The Training Rig is an exact replica of the NH90 tactical troop support helicopter, and will be used by maintenance and technical crew for training on both the mechanical systems and operational components of the aircraft. According to Reiser, more than 800 maintenance tasks can be replicated on the simulator, and with enhanced data gathering, 3D scanning and design, the high-fidelity machine can also facilitate the installation of role change equipment. The company commented: “By using this maintenance training approach, crews get more access to hands on training without having to tie up a real helicopter, which ensures the highest training quality while reducing the acquisition and life cycle cost significantly.”
