The US National EMS Pilots Association (NEMSPA) announced in July that it has appointed a new acting president, Kurt Williams. A former military aviator with almost three decades’ experience in the aviation industry, Williams is a lead pilot and air medical resource management instructor with PHI Air Medical Group, and formerly served on NEMSPA’s board of directors for two years.
“I’m excited for the opportunity,” said Williams. “NEMSPA has several major projects in the works that we feel will greatly enhance the safety of the helicopter EMS industry, and I’m eager for the opportunity to help see them to completion.”
One of NEMSPA’s activities is advancing weather reporting for the HEMS industry. “The HEMS weather tool is an invaluable resource used by a large majority of our industry as well as other commercial and general aviation pilots across the country,” added Williams. “It is vital to keep this programme available and advance it to its foregone conclusion of becoming a fully functioning go/no-go decision-making tool for all pilots.”
